Blog: Why Architects are embracing 3D technology
The most successful architects understand that, for most clients, buildings serve a specific purpose. A good architect therefore takes the time to understand what the client is trying to achieve with the building and then designs a structure to meet those needs. But this client centric approach to buildings doesn’t stop during the design process; it extends to the delivery of buildings.
Construction is a collaborative process, involving every stakeholder, from contractors to engineers and building owners. This is exactly why architects, and in fact the AEC industry in general, have begun to recognize the value of bringing digital innovation...Show full article
Blog: New EU energy policies highlight the need for better building data
The European Union has recently announced an ambitious strategy to transition to nearly zero-energy buildings across member states (Policies to Enforce the Transition to Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings in Europe). This new strategy is the latest EU policy targeting the environmental impact of buildings (see also recent amendments to the directive on the energy performance of buildings) and will require further action by building operators to save energy and comply with CO² emission standards. While these ambitions are admirable, they have also left building owners and operators scrambling for an implementation solution ahead of the looming deadlines.... Show full article
Blog: A/E/C Marketing: How 3D technology elevates your game
In an industry where the work should speak for itself, visual communication is not just essential – it’s everything. For this very reason, imagery is the most crucial element of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Marketing. Visual communication showcases the skills that will ultimately attract clients, win projects and gain more work.
But most AEC firms still rely on photography to capture every detail and nuance of a project. These photos then usually form the core of AEC marketing. But while photography may be one of the most familiar forms of visual communication, in the era of virtual reality, it’s...Show full article
Blog: The benefits of indoor digitization
In our first blog post we talked about how building owners can use NavVis technology to unlock the digital potential of the indoors. Our digital indoor platform makes this possible by bringing the transformational capabilities of (outdoor) digital maps and GPS to the indoors.
But the NavVis digital indoor platform is more than just an indoor mapping and navigation solution. NavVis technology converts entire indoor spaces into a virtual representation identical to the physical asset, known as a digital twin. This process is the first step in what we refer to as indoor digitization, and it is essential to...Show full article
Blog: 90% of GDP is created indoors. So why are buildings still a digital wasteland?
Welcome to NavVis – we are the global leader in indoor mapping, visualization, and navigation technology. Our mission is to fully digitize the indoors and bring the benefits of the digital era to everyone, everywhere.
We’ve launched this blog to share some of the amazing stories about how indoor digitization is changing and shaping the world we live in.
Just consider the impact of global positioning satellites (GPS) and digital maps. Together these two technologies have fundamentally transformed the world outside our doorstep. Transport, logistics, agriculture, ride hailing, food delivery, defense, natural resource extraction – every outdoor industrial process is...Show full article
The Digital Future: How BIM will transform the German Construction Industry
On January 24th, 2017, the German Government hosted the second annual “Future Forum” on the digitization of construction. NavVis was thrilled to be at the event and be part of this movement to put Germany at the forefront of digital innovation. While most of the pilot projects already underway focus on outdoor projects, NavVis is part of a research project on indoor digitization for the construction industry. In cooperation with our...
