Vermessung Schubert brings BIM to an Austrian landmark

When NavVis mapping partner and surveying company Vermessung Schubert were chosen to work on the renovation of Gumpendorfer Strasse Station, one of 109 stations in the Vienna metro system, they were faced with a unique problem: the original plans were paper drawings from 1898.

What’s inside:

  • Challenge – Capturing over 2,000 square meters of a historical and bustling metro station without disruption to services with a high-level of detail.
  • Solution – The NavVis M6 Indoor Mobile Mapping System scanned the whole station in only six hours, complete with ground control points and georeferencing.
  • Result – Vermessung Schubert now offers fast data capture for creating BIM models, plus the added value of browser-based access to inspect a building using NavVis IndoorView
