EXACT is a comprehensive provider of high-quality survey technology services throughout Europe, specializing in capturing the precise data its customers need. The EXACT team helps clients bring their visions to life, transforming a blank spot on the map into a successful construction project.
As trusted NavVis users, EXACT's Mile Petrovic, Business Manager, and his team gained early access to NavVis CLX. During a session at NavVis HQ, they shared their first impressions of the new system, the kinds of work they see it supporting, and where it could fit alongside their existing reality capture tools.
The following statements are based on feedback gathered during this early-access customer session with EXACT (Precio Group). Quotes have been lightly edited for clarity, brevity, and readability while preserving the original intent.
The right device for the right kind of work
A recurring theme throughout the session was the idea of matching the device to the task. EXACT does not view the new system as a replacement for high-end instruments such as NavVis VLX or NavVis MLX. Instead, it sees the system as the ideal tool for a specific and growing set of applications in residential and commercial real estate.
These include apartments and retail spaces that need to be mapped for insurance documentation purposes or routinely documented for layout planning and auditing, where speed and accessibility are more important than achieving the highest possible level of precision.
“This one device is perfect for these types of jobs that we look into.”
Importantly, this is not viewed as a single-use tool. The same device is seen as relevant across a wide range of customers and scenarios.
“This could be used for multiple customers.”
Built around simplicity and convenience
Ease of use was highlighted as one of the most important qualities for the type of work EXACT envisions. With many occasional and non-specialist users likely to handle the device, simplicity is not merely a nice-to-have but a fundamental requirement.
“You need a device like this that is smooth, easy, and convenient.”
The reduced weight and compact form factor reinforced this impression from the very first hands-on experience with the prototype.
“What I appreciate most is that it is still lightweight.”
Reaching a new kind of customer
Much of the discussion centered on the commercial opportunities the device could unlock. EXACT sees a large segment of customers who want to digitize their work but for whom a high-end system would be excessive. The new device makes it feasible to package reality capture as an even simpler, repeatable service tailored to these users.
“We can definitely work with the end customer to build a use case – that can be real estate, shops, and things like that.”
The business model is less about selling a surveying service and more about delivering a finished product that customers can immediately put to use. These customers are often organizations whose employees are not surveyors and do not think in those terms. Instead, they may simply need a straightforward yet reliable way to document spaces as part of their everyday work, particularly – but not only – through images.
“It would be about agreeing with them on a package. They are the ones accessing properties on the spot, often without returning anytime soon, so this is a system they could use to obtain a genuinely useful output in the end. This is what we can propose, and there are many customers like this who need guidance.”
Fit-for-purpose data quality
For the applications EXACT has in mind, the data quality was seen as more than sufficient for the intended purpose. The priority is reliable, usable output – clear imagery and a dependable point cloud.
“Good images and point clouds from this device can produce the results customers need.”
For this customer base, professional-looking results matter more than survey-grade precision.
“Even if they don’t care about the highest possible detail, the outcome still has to look very professional.”
Seeing real data left a strong and positive impression, exceeding initial expectations.
“I’m sure it will perform very well.”
The growing importance of imagery
Imagery emerged as one of the most valuable outputs for EXACT’s customers. Quality pictures, in particular, were seen as a meaningful advantage for the operator and for downstream use cases such as facility management.
“Knowing that the output will include comprehensive imagery makes it very valuable for the operator.”
The ability to capture detailed imagery in tight spaces also drew clear interest.
“Its compact form factor makes it possible to reach corners where even more details are needed.”
Streamlining documentation and field work
A major driver of value is reducing repeat visits and simplifying routine documentation. Many of EXACT’s use cases involve capturing a site once, quickly and completely, so that nothing requires a return trip.
Whether for retail planning or high-volume road and infrastructure documentation, the appeal is a fast, repeatable way to record and verify a space.
“It’s a really easy way to document and check.”
“We have a lot of projects – crosswalks or other road works, around 250 to 300 projects – and each time everything needs to be documented. This can be a solution for scanning and capturing everything.”
A strong first impression
Overall, the reaction to the prototype was enthusiastic. Seeing the actual device over an extended session reinforced confidence in both its design and its potential.
“My first impression is that it’s kind of cool.”
The EXACT team clarified that “cool” in this context does not refer to mainstream or lower-end appeal, and that distinction is part of what makes the device stand out.
The session left EXACT eager to see how the data performs within their own workflows.
“We are excited about exploring its capabilities.”
Summary
From EXACT’s perspective, the new device is not about competing with high-end survey instruments already in their toolbox, but about opening up an entirely new segment of work. By combining a lightweight, simple, and convenient form factor with fit-for-purpose data quality and clear panoramic imagery, it makes reality capture accessible to a much broader base of customers.
The opportunity EXACT sees is as much commercial as it is technical: a device that can be packaged into a simple, repeatable service for customers who want to digitize their workflows – in real estate, retail, and routine documentation – while still delivering the reliable, professional results they depend on.
